“God puts his rainbow in the sky so that he will see it and remember. I suspect that would be very encouraging to Noah because that is how it began. When God created the world, the refrain went ‘and God
saw that it was good’ (emphasis mine [DM]). But in the days of Noah God
saw that the earth had become corrupt and man had corrupted his way (6:12). In this new world, God
sees the sign of his covenant, and he refrains from submerging the world under water.”
